This research aims to present a pattern for measuring the quality of financial statements. To achieve this aim, firstly by reviewing the literature and theoretical background and also running an expert interview, a collection of indexes related to the quality of financial statements are identified, and then by using a questionnaire and performing Fuzzy Delphi method and confirmatory factor analysis we have identified indexes which have a significant effect on the quality of financial statements. After that, using the analytic network process, we have measured the relative weight of each of those indexes (7 indexes) regarding their effect on the quality of financial statements. Lastly, by measuring each of the indexes, and then computing the weighted average of measurements of all indexes (7 indexes), the measure of the quality of financial statements is computed. For assessing the validity of the presented pattern, we have used a regression model for 57 companies listed in Tehran Exchange for years from 1394 to 1396. We have shown that consistent with the literature, there is a significant negative relationship between the quality of financial statements and cost of equity. This relationship proves that the presented pattern has enough validity for measuring the quality of financial statements. Results of this research have shown that average of measures of quality of financial statements for 57 selected firms during years 1394 to 1396 are improved.

In the quantitative part, in order to assess the validity of the proposed model, using a questionnaire, the statistical population was active accountants in related industries in the field of water. Finally, using Cohen's sampling method, the opinions of 136 experts were received and analyzed using One Sample T-Test., In order to determine the factor loading of the indicators of each component, confirmatory factor analysis was used and the research hypotheses were tested. The results showed that the water management accounting model in Iran using Phenomenology method and balanced scorecard method includes 6 prospective: Finance, customer, internal processes, growth and learning, reputation and sustainability. The components of the model include 20 items: cost, efficiency, sales, expenses, water quality, water quantity, human capital, and so on and managers and in total 52 indicators constitute the water management accounting model.

In this study, the impact of CEO’s overconfidence on the relationship between cash holding and excess returns is investigated in companies listed in Tehran Stock Exchange during the years 2011-2018. For CEO’s overconfidence, overinvestment in assets, and for excess returns, the difference between a firm’s stock return and the return of the firm’s benchmark portfolio over the same period is used. By systematic sampling, a sample of 157 companies is selected, and the models have run based on panel data with fixed effects. The results have shown that (1) cash holding has a positive and significant impact on excess returns, (2) CEO’s overconfidence has a negative and significant impact on excess returns, and lastly, (3) CEO’s overconfidence has a negative and significant impact on the relationship between cash holdings and the excess returns. With increasing CEO’s overconfidence, the excess returns will be reduced. Overconfident managers keep cash at a higher level that leads to overinvestment. It consequently decreases excess returns.

Linguistic features of information provided by business unit management could facilitate the goals of the transmission of economic facts. In recent years, these characteristics have always been considered in research in the field of accounting and behavioral finance. Therefore, this study seeks to examine the effect of financial reporting tone on audit fees. The sample consists of 63 companies listed in Tehran Stock Exchange for the period from 2012 to 2019. Financial reporting tone is measured using the model introduced by Muhammad et al (2019). Also, a natural logarithm is used to measure audit fees. The data are analyzed and the hypotheses are tested based on the multivariate regression model and panel data. The findings show that financial reporting tone has a significant negative effect on audit fees. In other words, if the financial reporting tone conveys an optimistic tone, the audit fee will be less. Results indicate that financial reporting tone reflects factors that auditors consider in assessing audit risk.

One of the most important tasks for managers is decision-making. Life goes on today while the shadowing of uncertainty over all affairs has completely changed the decision-making process for various reasons. Companies, during their economic life, also face various factors that are unpredictable, and they are corporate managers who make the necessary final decisions for the company. Managers, like everyone else in the community, have different individual characteristics, talents, desires, attitudes, and value systems that can influence company policies. The present study aims to investigate the effect of managerial ability on companies' risk-taking behavior. In this regard, we analyzed the financial statements of 165 companies listed in Tehran Stock Exchange (TSE) for the period of 1388-1397. We measured managerial ability using the model introduced by Demerging et al. (2012). Also, we measured the risk-taking behavior of companies using two variables: standard deviation of the Return on Assets (ROA), the ratio of capital expenditures to total assets, and financial leverage of the company. Hypothesis testing is carried out through a multiple regression model with panel data. The results indicate that managerial ability has a positive and significant relationship with the ROA and the ratio of capital expenditures to total assets.

New public management is an evolving phenomenon and accounting has played a central role in its reforms. The investigations have shown that accounting reforms have fallen short of expectations and this cannot be simply related to the technical design of accounting tools. Understanding and implementing public-sector accounting reforms require looking at accounting as a social and human practice rather than a technical device. So this research aims to investigate the impact of public sector accounting reforms on accountants’ identity by focusing on the Actor-Network-Theory. The statistical population of the present research is all the employees of accounting and finance departments in the governmental agencies of Ilam city. Using Cochran’s formula, a sample of 113 people is determined. The data of 121 completed questionnaires are analyzed by SPSS using chi-square and t-test. The result has shown that the reforms have not been implemented in accordance with the four stages of the process of forming the Network of Actors; in other words, unified and cohesive actors networks have not been created. Also, according to the literature, four types of identities are identified among accountants. The largest number of them is Ascendant Accountant. Accounting innovations may imply the design and study of technical features, but the success of their implementation requires attention to the human dimension. Disregarding this dimension will have serious adverse consequences such as increased stress, weakening of motivation, morale, illness, and even tangible negative effects on employee identities, which lead to a low level of acceptance of the reforms and even its limited impact.

Narcissist managers, with behavioral characteristics such as selfishness, domination, and self-aggrandizement, don’t consider rules and regulations important. They manipulate detailed accounting reports opportunistically using positive words in an optimistic manner. This study aims to investigate the relationship between managers' narcissism and the optimistic tone of financial reporting with the moderating role of earnings management. To measure narcissism, two proxies are used: the area of managers’ signatures and the ratio of managers' remuneration to the total annual salary of employees, and vocabulary frequency as a criterion to measure optimistic tone. The sample includes 115 companies listed in Tehran Stock Exchange throughout 2011- 2018. To test the research hypotheses, regression has been used. Results indicate that there is a positive and meaningful correlation between the narcissism of managers and the optimistic tone in financial reporting. In other words, narcissist managers consider financial reports prepared based on an optimistic tone as an opportunity to satisfy their insatiable desire for self-promotion. Earnings management has got a positive moderating effect on the correlation of narcissism of managers and optimistic tone in financial reporting.
